VE Day Celebrations

A post in our latest news section.

Today, we celebrated VE Day. We learned about how World War 2 affected children and adults around the world. Miss Bell, told the children all about her grandad, who served as a navigator in the RAF. We looked at his medals and his dress uniform – one of the children even tried it on!

Year 2 thought about how important it is to remember the sacrifice of all the men and women who served their country during the second world war. They ensured that we would have a more peaceful world and have the freedoms that we now enjoy.

In assembly, we all took part in a 2 minute silence, to think about all those who lost their lives in the conflict and to be thankful for their bravery.

We all sang ‘I’ll Remember’, the Royal British Legion song for VE Day (which can found here: https://www.britishlegion.org.uk/get-involved/remembrance/teaching-remembrance/ve-and-vj-day-teaching-resources )

Our Year 6 children created some beautiful artwork for VE Day.

Finally, we ended the day with the National Anthem.

We are all very proud to have celebrated and remembered the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.
