Supporting Emotional Wellbeing at St Bede’s Catholic Primary School

At St Bede’s, we are committed to nurturing the emotional wellbeing of every child. We understand that feeling safe, valued, and supported is essential for children to thrive both academically and personally. Guided by our Catholic ethos and school motto, “In Christ’s kindness, we learn, we pray, we belong,” we provide a caring environment where every child can flourish.

One of the key ways we support emotional wellbeing is through our partnership with The Road Centre, which offers professional counselling services for pupils who may need extra help. This confidential support allows children to talk about their feelings with a trained counsellor in a safe and understanding space. By working closely with families and the Road Centre team, we ensure that children receive the guidance and care they need during challenging times.

In addition to counselling, we run Nurture Clubs led by Mrs Bullimore. These small, supportive groups provide a calm and welcoming environment where children can build confidence, develop social skills, and learn strategies to manage their emotions. Through activities such as games, creative tasks, and reflective discussions, Nurture Clubs help children feel connected and valued, promoting resilience and positive relationships.

Together, these initiatives reflect our commitment to the whole child—supporting not only academic success but also emotional health and wellbeing. At St Bede’s, every child belongs, every child matters, and every child is cared for.
