ELSA

Mrs Bullimore has been trained by an Educational Psychologist as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA). She is able to plan and deliver programmes to help children who are experiencing difficulties.

The sessions will normally be delivered over 6 weeks.

ELSA sessions are delivered on a one to one or small group basis. Occasionally, it can be delivered to a whole class. They are usually held in the Rainbows Room and the sessions are fun, with lots of games, arts and crafts and conversation.

The areas that can be covered during an ELSA session are:

  • Recognising emotions
  • Self esteem
  • Social Skills
  • Friendship Skills
  • Anger Management
  • Loss and Bereavement

Children can be referred for ELSA intervention by the class teacher or by parental request.

An ELSA cannot fix the problems but can support and nurture children during difficult periods in their lives.

If a problem persists or requires intervention from a specialist service, Mrs Bullimore is able to liaise with a range of services including; Early Help, CAMH’s, CYP’s and Social Services.
