Safeguarding

Safeguarding information about our school.

At St Bede’s, we take the safeguarding of our children very seriously.

Safeguarding legislation and government guidance defines safeguarding as:

  • Protecting children from maltreatment
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes
  • Safeguarding includes child protection, education, health and care plans, health and safety, site security, school visit safety, anti-bullying, online safety, behaviour and wellbeing work, and much more

We actively support the Government’s Prevent agenda to counter radicalisation and extremism.

At St Bede’s, we work in conjunction with Operation Encompass. Operation Encompass enables key adults in schools, police and teams within Sunderland City Council to train and work together to help children feel safe, secure and receive the appropriate support.
